Training

Training questions.

What the Manual Handling Course covers, how long it takes and how online learning works.

What is Manual Handling Training?
It teaches you how to lift, carry, push and pull loads without hurting yourself. You cover safe technique, how to recognise the risks, the legal duties involved, and how to size up a handling task before you start. It is for anyone whose job involves physical handling.
How long does the course take?
Most people finish the online Manual Handling Course in about 45 minutes to an hour. You can stop and pick up later whenever you like, as your progress is saved, and there is no deadline once you have begun.
Can I do the training online?
Yes. Online manual handling training is widely used across Ireland. The course is HSA compliant and the certificate is recognised by employers in every sector. Learning online lets you work at your own pace from wherever suits you.
What is covered in the course?
You work through Irish health and safety law, how the spine works and how injuries happen, the TILE risk checklist, safe lifting and carrying technique, team lifting, mechanical aids, and how to apply it all back in the workplace.
Certification

Certification questions.

Certificate validity, instant download and employer verification.

How long does the certificate last?
Three years from the date it is issued. Aim to complete a refresher before it expires so your certification never lapses. Some employers ask for more frequent training depending on their own safety policy.
Will employers accept the certificate?
Yes. The certificate is HSA compliant and recognised by employers across Ireland in healthcare, construction, retail, hospitality, manufacturing and logistics. Each one carries a verification code so an employer can confirm it is genuine.
When will I get my certificate?
Straight away. As soon as you pass the assessment, your certificate is ready to download as a PDF that you can print or send to an employer.
Can my certificate be verified?
Yes. Every certificate has a unique verification code. An employer can use our certificate verification page to confirm it is real and see when the training was completed.

Legal questions.

HSA duties, Irish regulations and the consequences of non-compliance.

Is the training a legal requirement?
Yes. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, employers must train workers who carry out manual handling that could cause injury. Not doing so can lead to HSA enforcement action.
What is the HSA?
The Health and Safety Authority - the national body responsible for workplace health and safety in Ireland. It sets the standards, publishes guidance and enforces the law, including the rules on manual handling.
What if an employer skips training?
An employer who fails to provide required training can face HSA inspections, improvement and prohibition notices, and prosecution. If a worker is injured because training was missing, the employer may also face liability and compensation claims.
Employers

Employer questions.

Team training, bulk pricing and the employer dashboard for Irish businesses.

Is there pricing for teams?
Yes. Employers training several people pay a reduced rate, and the employer dashboard lets you assign training, watch completion and download certificates for the whole team. View team pricing or get in touch for a quote.
Can I see who has completed training?
Yes. The employer dashboard shows progress, completion dates and certificate expiry as they happen. You can pull reports for your compliance records and get a reminder when certificates are coming up for renewal.
Technique

Technique questions.

Safe lifting method and the TILE risk assessment framework used throughout our course.

What is the correct way to lift?
Plan the lift first, then stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart, bend at the knees rather than the waist, take a firm grip, keep the load close to your body, and lift using your legs. Avoid twisting and move smoothly. The course walks through each step with practical guidance.
What does TILE stand for?
TILE is a simple way to assess a handling task: Task (what you are doing), Individual (who is doing it), Load (what you are moving) and Environment (where it happens). Checking these four points helps you spot and reduce the risks. Learn more about TILE.
